Can anyone help with a problem I have?
I can't open Mail, Contacts, Calendar on my IPad
Still fairly new to my iPad so apologies if this is something basic!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

With regards to your question when an app behaves strangely it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. To do this do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now, if not a restart is in order.

Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will start again. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running smoothly. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

When an App or your iPad begin to behave strangely these are the first steps you should do to rectify it. Let us know how you go, good luck!!

Thanks very much for the advice, but the problem is in my 'Settings' App on the Main Desktop.
When I go into 'Settings' and click on "Mail, Contacts,Calendar", it throws me out and goes back to the Main Desktop.
Does that make sense?

It seems the app is crashing, did you follow the steps I gave you above and it's still not working? I don't know what else to advise, someone else may chime in here who can help you.

Yes I did as you said but it's still taking me back to the main desktop.
I can access all the other Settings but when I try and access the Mail, Contacts, Calendar Settings it throws me out every time.
I can access my e mails through the Mail App, but can't access the Settings using the Settings App
Thanks for your help though, much appreciated, will keep working at it.

I have exactly the same problem, and it also affects Contacts - if I try to open Contacts it also throws me back to the Home screen. I have rebooted the IPad and I've also done a complete reload of IOS5 via the Restore function in iTunes, all with no resolution of the problem. There is a thread on this in the Apple Support Communities forum where a few other people have the same thing.
