Pro 9.7 battery life

I bought an iPad 1 when they first came out, then upgraded to an Air 1 when they were first released. I'm an experienced 'iPadder'.

I just grabbed a Pro 9.7 a couple of days ago. Compared to my previous tablets, the battery seems to go down quite fast.

I haven't done any side by side comparisons yet, but normally over the course of a day, my Air would go from 100% in the morning coming off the charger down to around 40% - 50% in the evening when I put it back on the charger for the night.

With approximately the same use over the same time period, the Pro went down under 20%

Has anyone else noticed that their Pro 9.7 is a bit heavy on batteries... Or is it just me?

Have you tried going to Settings>Battery to see if any apps are using more than their fair share of battery power? If so, force close the app and see if battery usage without that app is noticeably better. Also, extensive use of the Smart Keyboard will have an effect on battery life.

I just checked the battery setting and see that the "Home and Lock Screen' is sucking most of the juice. (22%).. How do I limit that?

Are you using a Smart cover with the device? Make sure it is closing properly. It may be causing the ipad to saty on while not in use.

Yes, I am using the smart cover/case pair. My old Air used to stay on the odd time.. I'll check the Pro and see if it's doing it too. Thanks for the tip.

Forgot to mention to check your screen brightness as well. If it's set to full, that will eat up the battery fairly quickly.
