Play video straight of the internet

Hi I am rjohnmurray and new to this. I am trying to view a video online. It will not play in wither WMP or Silverlight.

Can you assist me please and do treat me like I know nothing as I do no nothing!!

Window Media Player and Silverlight are Microsoft products and will not run on the iPad. However, there are several apps available in the iPad App Store that will stream video directly from the Internet, depending on the country that you're in - such as Netflix (US and Canada), BBC iPlayer and 4oD (UK), Sky News (UK).
