Password problem

In the past 6 months I have had to reset my Apple password about 5 times. It seems that every time I want to update apps or buy apps or anything at the store I have to reset the password.
Question: Does the iPad use only one password for the various apple functions such as the game center, the app-store, i Tune, etc?
the past few attemps to reset the password fail because i never receive the email from apple. I have checked all other folders and it"s not there. My Apple ID in my email address.

At least answer the part about the email I should receive from Apple regarding password reset.
