hi forum,
my daughter forgot the passcode to enter her ipad 1 and there is no available backup without this passcode. What can she do? Thanks for any helpful suggestions!

If it's really forgotten, she'll have to restore the iPad. As far as I know, that's the only solution.

If it was easy, it wouldn't be a security feature at all. She should try *very* hard to remember it. It's going to be a real hassle.

Looking good - business as usual. She (at the age of 13!) organised the solution of the problem all alone by herself. First she made a backup. Then she pressed the home button together with the on/off button. When the "apple" appearded on the screen of the Ipad she left the on/off button. Afterwards she connected to itunes, itunes started the synchronization and asked her either to start a "new" Ipad or to restore a backup. She restored the backup - slide-unlock without a passcode was possible - and could fix a new passcode. That´s it. :)

Tell her congratulations. That complex process would defeat many people. She's obviously got the makings of a computer scientist - I think she'll be designing Apple iPads in the future. Well done!!

Hi! Question about this process. If I click restore back up . Will all the text history n everything still be on the iPad or am I going to loose everything else n only end up with files n pictures , music that's save on the back up files on iTunes?

Your daughter is a saver! Thank you! I never believe that Apple allow backup without passcode unlocked as passcode was required for transferring photos to the computer. Wow! She really got something in her!!
