Thanks for the information it's much appreciated and very informative! Where do I find the PuTTY app? Can I change the password without having access to my laptop as it is fried and no longer of any use to me?

Google putty, it is a windows program. But if your computer is fried, nevermind.
As for the ssh password, open Cydia and in the bottom left of the main page, there is a link that says "root password, how to". You will need a terminal for iPad though.

I don't think you understand. If you computer is fried, ssh is worthless.

I will be getting another one soon! Just haven't figured out which one yet! Looking for the best gaming one for the money!

But with SSH, since it's installed should I not change the password on my ipad2?

No! Definitely change the password. Anyone who is connected to the same network can access everything on your iPad.
