Hi everyone, I am new to ipad and to the forum so I'm probably going to have a lot of questions. For now I need help opening a very important pdf file (and my computer just died) but I can't find the 'open in' option.... TIA

Where is that PDF file currently located - on your iPad or on your PC?

I have a similar issue with the mkv video format and certain apps, if the file is in GoodReader or similar and I use the open in feature, the registered media apps will not show up. This is on my iPad 2. The weird thing is with the exact same set up on my iPad 1, the media apps do show up as possible destinations. I worked with one of the media app devs and we were unable to get to the bottom of this. It seems like the app registration for the open in feature is a little flaky.

First tap on the PDF in Mail and let it download. Then tap and hold on it. Does this give you the Open in... pop-up?

Well, donka refers to what seems to be a known problem above. Have you closed all programs and rebooted and tried again with the same result? Can you email yourself a different PDF and reproduce the same result?
