    Today in 1843 - James Douglas starts construction of Fort Camosun, now Victoria, the first Hudson's Bay Company post on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. (not Canada at that time)

    16th March 1960, P&O's flagship, Canberra was launched. She was built by Harland & Wolff, Northern Ireland. She was advanced for her time, and aluminium was extensively used for her superstructure.

    17th March 2013. The last BBC News broadcasts take place at TV Centre, White City. This building has been the home of the BBC for 50 years.
