It was reported that he was well ahead of his time with the invention. In fact, by the time The first computer manufacturer adopted his invention for the mass market, Doug's patent had expired. He therefore never made a fortune. The manufacturer was Apple. According to the report.

In 1054 Supernova in Crab Nebula starts shining (preparation for the annual show we get every year on this day)

In 1789 the 1st US tariff act (didn't take long did it?)

In 1838 in Silkstone England at the Huskar Colliery Mine the pit floods during a rainstorm and 26 children drowned

Alaska became the 49th state in January, but it was on July 4th 1959 that the 49 star flag was first flown

And last, but not least in any way, I believe this was the day France presented the Statue of Liberty to the US in Paris in the late 1800s
