On gmail account ,what is this box?

When I open my gmail account using the mail exchange I can see the the attached box with arrow pointing to the bottom..
I pressed it while reading some of my emails and I couldnt find them any more..

Any one knows?

It archives those emails. They're not deleted but saved for later access. You can retrieve them using the web interface to Gmail.

That icon appears and the e-mail acts like that because you have Gmail's Archive function turned on. You can turn it off and get regular trash in the Gmail settings (in the iPad Settings app).

I believe you can find the Archived items by going through your account online ... but I've never tried.
