    Does anyone know if turning off notifications if the iPad will run faster?

    No it will not affect speed. However closing apps may improve performance When you say speed there are several factors is it when connected to wifi, 3G network or just not connected at all to any network

    Seems like clearing the search by pressing the x button has not been responsive. This has been happening in the app store and the browser. Maybe the iOS5 upgrade?
