The app was working fine till I downloaded another book last night. Now when I try to open the app I just get a dark grey screen with the spinning icon in black. Nothing happens past this point.

There doesn't seem to be any updates. I am running nook v. 4.7.0.22 and iOS 10.2

Any suggestions?

Things to try, in order.

Force restart the app by double clicking on the home button, then swiping up on the Nook app's preview.

Restart the device by holding down the power button until you see the Power Off slider. When it finishes shutting down, turn it back on by pressing the power button for 3 seconds.

Reset the iPad by holding down the power and home buttons until the Apple Logo appears. Nothing gets deleted when you do this.

Delete and reinstall the Nook app. All your purchased books should remain available for re-download. If you've side-loaded books, be sure you have copies somewhere other than the iPad.

Note: I haven't used the Nook app in a long time, so I'm not even sure if side loading is possible.
