No jingles !! ?

I'm a newcomer to the iPad having spent years using pc's. I am currently struggling to restore the keypad and notification sounds, swooshes, clicks, jingles etc.
Does anyone have the same problem and is there a quick fix ? I've tried the settings menu but all sounds are set to ON

Any advice welcome

You have the iPad on mute (which only mutes system sounds). Try sliding the switch on the side to turn them back on.

Yes it sounds like the Mute button is the culprit.
