Hi, new user and need some help. I received a new iPad Retina for work - want to give my wife my iPad 2 and want to put it under her account - how do I remove me from it?

Hi Dennis - welcome to the forum! :) First - don't act in haste and try to research your options - my situation was the opposite, i.e. had an iPad 2 for two years - bought my wife a Mini iPad and put her on my account - ALL of my previous purchases could be downloaded to her iPad w/ no additional expense - SO, I'm assuming that if you keep her account on the old iPad and use the same Apple ID, you should be able to load your previous purchases onto your new iPad and also share new purchases - NOW, that's my understanding (and I could be wrong), but hopefully others will 'chime in' w/ a situation that matches you - good luck!

The only way to remove your account from the iPad and have only her's on it is to do a factory restore on the iPad, which erases all content and settings. When she adds her account to the iPad, it will be separate from your account and will not have any access to any apps or other content from your account.

Giradman makes a valid point, if you share the same Apple ID, you can share apps , music, movies, etc. Sharing with family members in this manner is allowed by Apple.
