My ipad 2 has no 3g, and I want to access the net any place, so if i walk into a shop in Ireland what do I ask for .. I was just sold a 3pay broadband micro chip but where do i put it..dont think this is what I need, but rely on shop assistant advise, feel a bit stupid .

If you do not have the 3g version of the ipad, you will not be able to utilize a sims card. If you are wanting to access wifi in public places such as McDonald's or the public library that is different. Your Ipad 2 is capable of picking up the wifi signal. Depending on where you are, some places require you to type in a password in order to use their free internet service.

Another way to access the internet with your ipad is by purchasing a broadband mifi unit. I have purchased one called a virgin mobile broadband mifi. I pay as I go--meaning that I do not have a monthly contract to maintain. Usually the cheapest rate is $10 for 500mb for 10 days. It works on a celluar service (AT&T)--and works well for me.

I hope this answered your question, if not-I am sure others will join the thread and add their thoughts. Good luck and Welcome!
