Mac user since Apple IIe, but not a tekkie. My 2005 Powerbook G4 (OSX
Tiger 10.4.11) has "idiosyncracies" with no supported browsers or FlashPlayer
anymore, so I succumbed to the lure of iPad 3 with Zaggfolio (cover +
keyboard). Both of which are the bees knees. Dropbox bridges the chasm
between the old and new for my purposes. Another dandy invention.

The Q: I use iPad in landscape mode. I downloaded IBM THINK, but cannot
make use of it (or any app) in portrait mode. Any way to change orientation?

This is a superb forum, by the way. Kudos to the monitors and those who
share their knowledge.

Hi there and welcome...
Try looking at Settings>General>"Use Side Switch to:" Set it to Lock Rotation, then flick your side switch to make sure it is unlocked (the one with no padlock).

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Yes make sure you don't have your Lock Orientation set, but that being said some apps are only configured for viewing in portrait or landscape mode and there is nothing you can do about this apart from getting in touch with the Developer and asking for this feature. Also some apps will come with their own settings, so when you download an app have a look in Settings and see if there are any for this app.

I have just downloaded IBM Think (so glad it was free) and this app will only view in portrait mode.

Thanks for the responses! Sadly, I arrived at the same conclusion that IBM THINK operates only in portrait mode. It is intriguing, though, so I'll probably keep it along with another beauty called LeafsnapHD, and hope for landscape versions soon.

Also, many thanks for the links to help shorten my learning curve. MOST helpful!

You're welcome!

I have seen apps which were only ever viewable in one mode switch to the 2 mode feature, so you never know.

Enjoy!
