Hi at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot I've just purchased an iPad2 & luv it however I can't finid the FaceTime icon anywhere? I've also upgraded to IOS 4.3.2 and it's still nowhere to be found. Any ideas where I've screwed up? Thanks

Restart the iPad. Press *and hold* the Power button. After a couple of seconds a slider control will appear asking you to confirm that you really want to switch the iPad off (this is all you’ll be doing). Slide the control to accept. A rotating white ‘bezel’ will appear in the iPad screen as the iPad powers down (it takes a few seconds, just like it would if you were shutting down your PC). When the screen of the iPad has gone completely blank, press *and hold* the Power button for a couple of seconds until the white Apple logo appears and the iPad starts to power up. This takes several seconds, so be patient. During the power up the automatic screen orientation function is disabled, so don’t panic. A few seconds before the power up is complete, the iPad plays a little ‘jingle’ and then you’re back to the Home screen. Restart the iPad’s app and see if the problem persists. Apple (and Forum members) recommend that you power down your iPad at least once a week, just as you might regularly completely switch off your PC. The normal procedure of just briefly pressing the Power button of the iPad merely puts it to ‘sleep’. Most Forum members have found this cures a whole bunch of unexplained problems and are an easy first step to resolving most anything that happens on the iPad.

Thanks Tim for the prompt response. Did a power down as you suggested but everything is exactly the same. FYI I'm using a 64GB WiFi iPad2 if that helps. thanks Len

Please check on your settings, you may have accidentally turned it off.

Thanks.... There's no FaceTime option on the left hand side menu bar in settings which leads me to believe it's not installed. Any ideas? Thanks again

Outside my iPad, or was it inside?

Yes, FaceTime doesn't appear in Settings, if you don't enable if from the restrictions first.

FaceTime is 100% installed on every iPad 2. It is impossible to not have it.

I dont think there is restriction. Im not totally sure, but among the UAE states. Dubai is the lax when it comes to rules. And I have use facetime with some contacts who are in Saudi Arabia at the time.

Btw, you are not on 3G are you? I remembered facetime connects via wifi only. (unless it has been change)

Hmmm looks like it's been removed completely. If you go to the local website you'll notice there's no mention of FaceTime.....I'm feeling quite ripped off as this was one of the major reasons I bought it for.....not very impressed with how they kept that quiet. Sorry for the wild goose chase. At least we know the reason now. Thanks again everyone for your input. Much appreciated Len

Well, here is the thing I don't understand.

How does FaceTime get restricted. If I were to travel to the UAE, would it disappear as well? Or is there a special firmware?

In the latter case, I don't see, why you couldn't just setup a UK Apple ID (no cc needed) and then redownload the firmware with FaceTime on it.

read the thread, it only affects those devices that were bought in UAE. that is something.
