New iPad - clear old

My wife has just got a new (replacement) iPad. Everything from her old iPad automatically transferred to the new one courtesy of iCloud. So far so good, but she now wants to rid her old iPad of everything, and my question is how do we do this. She has the same email address and Apple ID on both machines. If I delete her account from one will it automatically do it to the other? Could I simply do a 'factory reset' or something similar, or will what I d to one happen on the other please?
