New icon next to podcasts gone?

I have an ipad 1 that I updated to ios5 about 2 weeks ago or so. For some reason the little dot next to the new podcasts is missing now. It was nice to see what I hadn't listened to yet. Is this one of the new 'features' or is this the case for everyone?
