Apple has continued its revamp of the App Store by launching a new section of the store that showcases the best apps of the month.
The section is called “Best of April†and will presumably change to “Best of May,†and so on, throughout the year. Included in the section are what the App Store’s editorial team consider to be the best apps of the month.
It’s not just newly released apps that are included in the round-up, as AppleInsider notes that “superb offerings that received impressive updates,†are also included.
The difference between this and the Editor’s Choice app showcase is that the new “Best of†section is divided into Great Games and Amazing Apps categories. This month, 25 games and 24 other apps are featured.
AppleInsider also makes the connection between the launch of this new way of showcasing apps by Apple and last week’s Wall Street Journal story that talked about how Apple and Google position apps favourably in their respective App Stores in return for exclusive access to an app for a certain amount of time.
