Network or app problem?

    I have an iPad 2 with several (all, actually) of the Denon receiver remote control apps downloaded. My Denon 3312 is Internet-ready and is connected via Ethernet directly to a Linksys E4200 router. All of the apps work, except for the absolute best one, the DenOnOff. Sometimes I am able to connect for a second or two, sometime for as much as 3-4 minutes, and then the "connection is lost". Has anyone else experienced this? Are there some changes that I can make to the E4200 that will fix this (I, admittedly non-technical) think this is a router issue. The DenOnOff developers are trying their best to help me but I thought I would ask the community as well. Thanks in advance.
