My ipad keeps turning off

why I'm using it or watching a movie it turns itself off

Do you have a full charge? Are you trying to charge it while watching the movie?
What app are you using when that happens?
Is it an iPad1 or iPad2? How long have you had it? Has it always done it or is it something that has just started?
What firmware version are you on?
Is it JB?

You forgot to ask one thing. Was it really turning off or did it just auto lock?

My ipad1 drops into autolock at least 3 times A day. It happens at any charge level and occurs in mail, Safari, and virtually any app that I am using. When it occurs I unlock mt IPad and it opens on my home page and the app/etc. that I was using must be opened again and whatever I was doing is never saved! Please help!!!

Try holding home and sleep until the Apple logo appears.

Also check your settings on auto locking.
