My daughter removed some icons...

We've learned how to lock the controls so she can't do it anymore, but we can't figure out how to get icons back onto any home screen. We have to do a search for the apps to be able to use them, and some of them, we aren't sure what the name of the app is.

Resetting to default didn't change anything but our background pic and make us go through setup again.

Do you have a backup of the iPad before your daughter removed apps?
If so, there's a simple solution: erase all content and settings, and restore from that backup.

You'll have to lock the controls again afterwards, because the settings will be chosen from that backup as well.

If you don't have a backup, you'll have to go to App Store - Purchased and search the apps/icons that are still missing.
