Movies not playing

I have downloaded a couple of movies from I tunes , they are on the iPad but when I go to play them the screen just goes black and freezes. I have tried resetting the iPad but still not working .

Only thing I can think of is having a tv connected but that is too obvious. Are you jailbroken? That could cause a problem. Otherwise call apple. They are nice.
