Mains charging

My iPad 2 use to charge from mains while switched on now for some reason it will only charge if I switch it off .also just found out that it will not connect to iTunes its theipad because my IPhone connects with same leads

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Try a reset of your iPad, this reset will not change anything on your iPad and is akin to rebooting a pc.
Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. Let us know if this makes a difference here.

Do you allow your battery to run down totally occasionally? It's a good idea to do this as this will recalibrate it.

I have seen reports of problems with the port, have a look to see if anything has lodged there.

have you tried to do a software up date on the machine - more often than not this is something that apple & many other manufactures recommend is to regularly update the software for the product other than that i'm not too sure myself

Yes have pressed update in settings says all up to date thanks ant way the strange thing is if I plug the charger into the iPad then shut iPad down it will charge but I can't even get into iTunes to switch it to wi fi contact

What happens if you start charging with the IPad off then turn it on? Will it keep charging?
