I was doing volunteer work to help set up the convention today. The actual convention starts on Thursday morning.

Here are a few pictures I took while the set up was in progress.

The first two photos are of the set up for the dealers room.

These next two photos are are of the auditorium.

This last photo shows some of the volunteers helping set up the art show.

Thanks for those photos sci! Quite interesting the amount of work there to set things up. That is a huge auditorium to cater for like minded "scifans":)

That makes me wonder: do you have an idea how many people are supposed to take part? Just an estimate will do.

    Edit:
Never mind. I found something on the website: more than 8000 people are expected.

That must mean that you're a supporting member of the convention. Congratulations on voting. There was record voter turnout this year. If you want to watch the Hugo awards live, Ustream will be carrying the live program. Details are on the convention website.

Here's the front cover of the souvenir book you'll be getting in the mail after the convention.

Is there a special reason why he's not there in person?

Here are a few shots of the WSFS business meeting.
    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
WSFS stands for the World Science Fiction Society and is concerned with the WSFS constitution and the rules pertaining to the administration of the Hugo awards.

I have no idea, but it is a nice exhibition of technology in action.

    It certainly is.
Somehow it reminds me of "Big Bang Theory". In one of the episodes Sheldon built a device that looked similar.

I'll probably have to ship some of my "goodies" home to save weight in my carry on luggage allowance.
