I think he got it backwards. I believe you're supposed to launch the boat, not the truck.

Hey Sci, my brother, in his youth, was going to impress his girlfriend, take her out in his Sabot with a bottle of wine and picnic. He did it the right way around. Then asked his girlfriend to park the pickup after floating the sabot off the trailer. She got in the truck, thought he said something to her, so she put it in neutral while she got out to talk to him! You know the rest!
Maybe his girlfriend was involved in this?
