Niantic kicks off the week with some great news for Pokémon Go players, with the latest update (1.15.0) beginning to roll out.
The main feature of this new update is the fact that you will now earn daily bonuses for the first Pokémon catch of the day and first PokéStop visited each day. When you do this 7 days in a row, you’ll get an even bigger bonus.
The next big change in the update is designed to prevent Gym hijacking in Pokémon Go, whereby someone annoyingly pops in their own Pokémon in the few seconds after you’ve just defeated a Gym. With the new update, there will now be a brief moment after you’ve defeated a Gym Leader at a rival Gym when only you will be able to place a Pokémon in the open Gym.
Also, a rival Gym will now lose more Prestige when you defeat a regular Gym member, and the amount of Prestige earned from training at a friendly Gym has been reduced.
Aside from this update, Niantic has also just announced that it has expanded its current testing of its new Nearby Pokémon feature beyond San Francisco, California, where it has been testing it up to now, and out to parts of Arizona, the Seattle area of Washington State, and the rest of the San Francisco Bay area. “We will continue to review community feedback, make changes if necessary, and roll this feature out to more regions,” said Niantic of the testing expansion.
