iTunes sync problem

OK - so I have an iBook with 10.4.11 and I can't sync my iPad. I have the 10.5.4 discs and they won't install. Is there a work-around for this?

Not a tech-head but well experienced in macs.

Welcome to our forums What was the reason it will not install have you launched the DVD what message came up. Also what year is your MacBook please

OS 10.4.11 to OS 10.5.4 upgrade on iBook possible?

Here's the computer the I'm trying to upgrade:
MacBook from April 2006, 2GH, Intel Core Duo, 1gb RAM, 60gb HD
It's running on OS 10.4.11 with all updates.
There is ~13GB of free space on the drive.

Here's what I'm trying to install:
OS 10.5.4, AHT version 3A152 from 2008 (gray discs) disc version 1.1

When the install disc starts up I get the language screen, then shortly after, a box that says "OSX cannot be installed on this computer"

The issue, of course, is that I'd like to sync my iPad with this laptop, and since it's running 10.4.11 I can't load a version of iTunes that will accomplish this.

Any insight would be appreciated.
