iTunes newbie question - Why can't I see my sync'd apps?

I have downloaded a few apps directly to my ipad, then sync'd up with itunes. I do not have my ipad with me now but started iTunes and do not see my apps anywhere. I thought they would be listed under the Apps tab of the Library. I know I have done a backup and sync'd several times. What am I doing wrong?

Go into iTunes with your iPad connected, and click on "File" in the upper left hand coner, then click "Transfer purchases from (name of your iPad)". This should transfer your files into iTunes. They should be transferred with just a sync, but sometimes they don't for some reason.
