Is there a "Remember" function for input boxes?

On a PC when you type something more then once into a username
box it "remembers" it for next time.

I know this is a Widows 7 IE function and not the same as typing
"Remeber me" on a web page.

Can this be done on the iPad2, so some keystrokes are saved?

Try Settings > Safari > Auto Fill, you can assign it to contacts, passwords, etc. It's not perfect but might help you along. Hint: you can create a "false" contact so when you begin typing that word it'll pull it up as a suggestion in the box.
