jailbroken allows something similar, but for mac or pc.

basically your text pops up on your computer and you can reply.


but i'm guessing you want it on the iPad, don't worry, iMessage is coming soon.

Yes, Textfree texts to any cell phone that supports texting. And will receive from such phones also.
