My home key is not working. I'm often forced to power off and power back on to exit apps.
sounds like a hardware problem, if it's under warranty take it back to apple.
Best to get it replaced if possible.
That said if you are stuck with a defective iPad you might want to read this article which would allow you to use a multi finger swipe to close apps. The only caveat is that a version of OSX is needed:
Enable iOS 4.3 gesture controls on your iPad with free Xcode 3 download
If this is an ipad2 you are speaking of, don't hesitate, and take dat faulty device back and demand a swap or replacement. U are perfectly entitled to it as it hasn't even been two weeks yet for return policy. Hurry though cuz if u wait too long, then u would have to go thru warranty n which they will give u a refurbished one. I'd say f$&@ that, n go get u another new one Today. No need to worry or try to find workarounds for it. This device is brand new and should operate so. Powering off and on to exit apps is ridiculous. Good luck n post back what they did ;-)
I agree with Joy!
apple had me restore to factory settings and it started working again. A few hours later I experienced the same problem. They told me to bring it into the store and they would try to fix it. If it can't be fixed I will have to order another one and wait weeks for it to come in since all stores are sold out. In the meantime I can still use the defected one.
Yes I do have the iPad 2
They won't try to fix it. They'll replace it.
Take it to an Apple store, they likely have replacements in the back for you.
They don't have ANY models in the store.
yes they do. they aren't for sale. it's their standard procedures. no worries mate.
