Is an AT&T Iphone Locked to AT&T after the contract runs out.

I realize this is an Ipad forum, but I figured I could get the answer here.

If I want to use a different on an AT&T Iphone after the 2 year contract runs out, do I need to jailbreak it first?

It is locked to AT&T because no one will unlock them, in order to use an iphone on another network, pretty sure you have to buy one already unlocked. I might be wrong but that is what I have been told.

Need not wait for two years...you can change your network in the middle by unlocking....For unlocking use the website wickedunlock.com which provides unlocking codes with step by step instructions.
