iPod that has never been synced, to be synced with laptop that has previously been

Hi everyone.

My sister got a new iPod and laptop. She synced the two together and now she has 2 laptops with her libraries on it.

I recently (3months ago) bought an iPod, but have never synced it with a computer. I have only downloaded apps, some of which my sister doesn't have.

My sister gave me her old laptop, and I want to sync my iPod with it. I am given 2 options.

1) Setup as a new ipod
2) restore from my sisters backup

If I setup a new one, will I lose any of the apps I currently have?

Will my sisters library on her new laptop be affected in anyway?
