9to5 Mac reports today on the really rather funny photobomb by some stealthy iPads during Microsoft’s attempt at product placement for the Surface Pro during CNN election coverage last night.

During the broadcast, you can see that the presenters are using their Surface Pro tablets, which have presumably been provided by Microsoft for a nice bit of product placement. So far so good!

However, GeekWire noticed that lurking behind the proudly displayed Surface Pro tablets were the iPads that the presenters were in fact using to help them present the show. And best of all, one of the commentators was even seen to be using her Surface Pro as a stand to prop up the iPad that she was actually using (see above)!

Recently Microsoft has been taking a few pot shots at the iPad in its adverts, as well as the iPad mini and MacBook Air, but this could be one marketing method that Microsoft might want to forget about!
