Ipad3 wifi tether

Hi,
I'm trying to use my ipad 3 tethered to a Samsung galaxy s2. When I use open security it works fine but as soon as I enable wpa or wpa2 it won't connect. I'm sure I have the passwords correct, and triple triple checked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out. I'm a computer professional so I pretty much know what I'm doing, and but I'm either missing something obvious or they ain't compatible.

That's strange indeed. I have a Galaxy S running custom ICS rom and don't have any problem tethering to the iPad through a WPA2 encrypted conexion. May I ask which rom/kernel do you run on your SGS II?

I'm using the latest resurrection remix rom with the cm kernel that comes with it.
