Ipad stoped working

evening all

My Ipad is misbehaving and i am wonderin what to do - came in this eveing and it was working fine but just went to used it and it was not working as in if i taped an icon it blinked but would not open , it was letting me slide between screens - decided to turn it off , it gave me the option to "turn off" but i now have the small circule on the screen going around and around -
hooked it into itunes but its saying it can not hook into Iphone(?) because of an unknow error
?????
not sure what to do

Try pressing the on/off button along with the home button at the same time for about 20 seconds until you get a reboot.
