John Paczkowski at All Things D reports today on a new survey from Good Technology, which manages mobile devices for 49 of the Fortune 100 and 182 of the Fortune 500. According to the survey, 27 percent of the mobile devices activated by Good Technology’s enterprise clients in the second quarter of 2011 were tablets, with 95 percent of those tablets being iPads. In contrast, Good Technology found that Android tablet activations by its clients declined by 3.1 percent in the second quarter, despite the launch of the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy in that same quarter. And to pound home Apple’s dominance even further, Good Technology also found that there were more iPads activated in the second quarter than Android tablet and smartphone activations combined. John Herrema, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Good puts these figures down to the growth in “Bring Your Own Device†employees in the enterprise.

“We attribute the large gap between iPad and Android tablet activations to the combination of user preference among our ‘BYOD’ users and large deployments of company-owned iPads, especially in verticals like financial services and healthcare,†Herrema told All Things D.

Herrema concluded that he did expect Android to start to narrow the gap, but not until at least 2012, as “the iPad 2 simply has too much momentum.â€
