Hi, everyone! This morning, i noticed a circular arrow spinning on the top left of my iPad, right after the word iPad and the signal strength. Anybody know what that is? It seems to be slowing everything down. It looks like something is continually downloading, but I don't know what! What is it? Do I want to stop it? How do I stop it? Thanks for any advice you can give me!

That sounds like it is syncing......was it charging at the time?

EDIT: this is nothing to worry about, in fact it's good as it means you will have all your important stuff backed up. As soon as the "over the air" sync has finished everything will run smoothly again.

Hi Gabriel! I really don't know if it was syncing. Maybe? But I've never seen that before. It wasn't the same circular thing that spins when iPad is DLing. It was different. So I shut down my iPad. All seems sort of normal except my one favorite game keeps saying "cannot reach server." I'm sort of jonesing. I don't know if you play Fluxx. I wish i Knew someone who did! I would like to know if they are having issues too or if its that business from yesterday. I went to App Store to see if there was an update. Didnt appear to be.

If you are unsure, this is the symbol for wifi syncing, it rotates slowly during the syncing process........

Oh, Gabriel! That WAS the symbol! After you gave me that idea, I went to my settings to see if my software was up to date. And it is. Since I stopped the symbol by shutting off my iPad fully, what do you think it was doing? Should I check anything else? Thank you!

Do you sync with iCloud or a computer?

Either way, when your iPad is connected to a power source it will sync automatically in the background. This is a good thing and absolutely nothing to worry about. Auto syncing can be turned off but it's hard to think of a good reason for doing so. Don't worry about the fact that you shut it off, it will sync again when it can.

Thanks for the full explanation, Gabriel. I did do something different. My new photos were not added to my iPad. I was rushing because a friend was over. I hooked it up to my computer, which I hardly do, and so many junk apps got put on it, stuff moved around, that weird circle thing (which I know understand, thanks to u!), then also couldn't connect to Fluxx server. So my iPad is in a fluster! Lol!

Gabriel, Ive got another question for you: I'm going to let my mom borrow my old iPad. Is it possible for me to set up a separate GC ID for her so she can earn her own achievements, etc?

Thanks!

Hi Suzabella--Gabriel hasn't been here for a while, so I will help you out.

it looks like you can log out of your game center account and have your mom log her account in.

Have a look at this from Apple:Using Game Center

I have not done this before, however, some who have did have some issues. See this from the Apple Community to keep in mind when doing this:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3129900?start=15&tstart=0

Finally, is your mom going to keep/borrow your iPad and sign in using her Apple ID? Just curious what you mean by "borrow?"

Hi Skimonkey! You're so helpful!

I looked at the link you sent. I think that will be quite helpful. What I mean by "my mom is going to borrow my iPad" is that I will still own it and maintain it (updates, syncing, buying her new apps), keep it under. My Apple ID.

If there's anything else you need to understand to give me info, just let me know! Again, thanks for your help!

Ok, I understand. Your mom will love it! Keep us posted with what happens if when you log out of game center and she logs in. I am curious to know if it will work. It sounds like it has by others, but I haven't tried to do that.

Is it dragonvale that she will play? If so, will you delete the app and then install it again under her gc id?

Skimonkey, I gave it to her without trying the two different GC ID! I was afraid to lose all my games' progress!! Yup, I'm chicken. No, she won't be playing DV. She doesn't have internet. So I'm hoping that last fact will allow it to be okay. She likes different games than i too. I'm hoping it all works out okay for us both so I don't have to try anything else! Lol! Thank you so much for your help!!
