iPad OS Update

I cant seem to update my iPad 1 at work on our network. Can I update at home without a computer?

I was able to update mine without a computer via WiFi. You will have to already be on iOS 5, though, I believe. Otherwise you will have to plug into a computer to get up to OS5 so that over the air updates will work.

Is your home PC the main computer that you sync your photos, movies, music etc on? If so, than yes-you need to do the update at home. As Brian was saying, if you do not have the ios 5 update, you will need to directly connect your ipad to your PC with the USB cord given. You will need to sync with itunes to sync and do your backup, before beginning the update. Also, make sure that itunes has been updated to 10.5.1. I believe that is the most current, but your PC will tell you whether or not your current itunes if up to date or not. Updating your itunes and your ipad will take time. BE PATIENT. Make sure you back up your photos locally, before you make the change. Also, with having ipad1-there have been several threads pertaining to how slow the device has become with update. So keep this in mind if you decide to take the plunge.

Once you have update 5, than you can begin doing OTA updates without directly connecting to your PC. The most current update for your ipad should be ios 5.01.
