After so much silence and stillness coming from the iPad mini rumor basket, most people decided that nothing was ever going to happen. But they were wrong. This week Digitimes brings back to life talk of the 7.85-Inch iPad. And they have a release date for it, as well. Apparently the Mini is going to show its pretty little head prior to the 4th quarter of 2012 in addition to the next generation iPad at the end of the 1st quarter. Maybe Apple is worried about the increasing number of tablets that pop out on the market these days, especially the Android Kindle Fire.

The DigiTimes report goes on to say that the Cupertino company has been planning to buy 7.85-inch panels from LG Display and AU Optronics (AUO) and that they are sure the iPad mini will go to production in the end of next year’s second quarter. Price suggestions have already been popping on the web, placing the device around the $200 and $300 mark.

The 7.85 inch iPad will be sporting the same resolution as the iPad – 1024x768. Other details are not available at the moment, but the iPad Mini should become Apple’s new weapon against the fiercest competitor, Amazon’s new and very popular Kindle Fire.

All in all, these ramous have been out and about for quite a while now, which indicates that, yes, maybe Apple has been giving the Mini some though, but that doesn’t mean that we are going to be seeing production any time soon. Companies toy with different ideas and prototypes all the time, and even if there’s an iPad mini idea floating somewhere in the zone, that doesn’t mean users are going to be buying them in the palpable future

Mini! I want a Maxi 10.5 along with a 4 inch iPhone to handle the small stuff. Do people really want that mini size?

Apparently so. Amazon is selling millions of Kindle Fires.

I guess so. Plus they are very affordable.
But for me keep it big, make the iPhone 4.5 and the iPad 11 and that would be perfect for me.

I was talking to a coworker yesterday she was very proud of here new kindle fire. So we compared side by side. She kept telling me how cheap it was and how the iPad is out of here range. Another guy within earshot told me I should have got an android tablet because blaa blaa blaa.
I closed down my iPad and went back to my desk even more encouraged than ever that the iPad fits the right spot. Just enough, elegant, dependable and works as advertised.
No regrets and I still thin the 7 in fade will not last.
