BGR reports today on a new rumour that says that the iPad mini will go on sale on November 2. This follows on from yesterday’s news that Apple has sent out press invites for a special event on October 23, which is widely thought to be for the launch of the iPad mini. BGR says that the November 2 release date rumour comes from 9to5’s Twitter page, although 9to5 Mac also points out in its tweet that it has only “heard whispers†and nothing more concrete than that.
Meanwhile, in a separate story on AppleInsider, analyst Gene Munster from Piper Jaffray says that he thinks the iPad mini will have a cannibalisation rate of 20%, with every five iPad minis sold replacing one regular-sized iPad. Munster says that Apple could sell at least 5 million iPad minis in December, cannibalising 1 million full-sized iPads that would have been bought in the holiday period.
