iPad chat in safari

Sorry am new to this and new to the iPad world, but why can't I use fb chat in safari and there's not a option for it in Facebook app, I have downloaded others like friendly and mypad and when you go onto chat on these they just say Loading and a circle goes round and round, so have just deleted them, am I doing something wrong or do I have settings or something set up wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated, as this was one reason for getting an iPad quick and easy web access.........

There are probably better ways, but you can chat in the FaceBook app. Here's a quick guide.



The list of friends varies depending on what screen you are viewing. Newsfeed (shown here) tends to list friends with recent posts, or who FaceBook thinks you interact with more. I'm not sure what criteria is used in other lists. Not all views show the chat column.

You can find a specific friend (if not shown) by dragging the list down to reveal the search tool.
