Had mishap with iPad 2 in that the volume button is stuck as the outer case has slight crease in it from a very minor fall .i can see the case is pinching the button and was wondering how to fix it .
Any help would be kindly received
Thanks all

Hi PhilStokes - welcome to the forum! :)

Sorry about your mishap - from your description appears that the metal encasement was squeeze against the volume switch - looking at my own iPad there appears to be little space between the metal & the volume rocker which would make a self-repair attempt difficult and likely risky IMO - I believe that the case needs to be removed and either that slot 'expanded' or the case replaced - appears you best bet would be to find a potential repair service, such as an Apple store. Hope someone has a better option for you and good luck!

Many thanks .will try a repair centre

I was going to try and release it by getting a flat edge tool and gently prize it away as it seems to have pinched the rocker button

Hi Phil - well, I'm an amateur woodworker w/ a wide assortment of tools and that was my first thought, but when looking at the rocker control, there is just not much space and I would be hesitant about putting much force between the metal and the plastic switch, i.e. might damage and/or disable the volume control - I'd probably have to take a look at your iPad to see if I'd risk the attempt? But up to you - good luck! Dave :)

I think you are exactly right and having looked at the Ipad2 tear down instructions, its looks a fairly tricky job,as it is a sealed unit and the glass front/rear is glued and can only be removed with hot air and a hell of alot of patience.
I hear good things about the apple returns policy and believe the best course of action is to take it back to point of sale with receipt and explain what happened.Fingers crossed
Many thanks for the input and have a great Xmas
