iPad 2 photos have started showing as syncing, 6 months after they have synced!

My photos on my iPad 2 have started showing as syncing, after I synced them fine off my netbook when I first got my iPad. When I touch an album it says there are no photos in it, yet when I get the album screen up it has the loading wheel turning at the bottom saying the photos are syncing. I have tried updating, re syncing and re booting but so far nothing has worked. The apple store jus said to do what I've already done. Can anyone shed any light on this?
