Ipad 2 Apps Question

Ive been wondering whether it is possible to, next to the apps written for the ipad itself, it's also possible to use normal apps that are used on the ipod/iphone?

Yes, iPhone apps will work just fine on the iPad. Those that have a '+' symbol next to them in the App Store are universal apps and will automatically detect that they are running on an iPad and will adjust the display size to match the iPad's larger screen. Those that don't have the '+' symbol will run OK too, but don't detect the larger screen size, so the display will be smaller but, otherwise, will operate just fine.
