IPad 1 update

My computer has crashed and I need to update my ipad 1 software. if I connect to a new computer how do I back up my iItunes music library from my Ipad. or will I just lose the music and have to reinstall it in .

In the future my advice is to always keep your iTunes on a flash or external drive that way you never lose anything but to answer your question yes you will have to reinstall everything

If you connect your iPad to a new computer that has iTunes up an running and has been authorized, it will recognize the iPad and you will get the option to transfer your purchases from the iPad to the computer.

If your music did not come from Apple (via their store), then you will have to use some third party program to get the music from the iPad to your new iTunes. A sync of an iPad with iTunes will not transfer over music.

There are many third party programs that can do this (they are installed on your computer).
