Your attention much appreciated! I have managed to resolve the issues arising from my "update", so I am ok.

    Thanks!

Just updated to ios 6 on iPad. Went without a hitch. I considered all of the complaints and thought "Whatever" and downloaded it anyway. I'm presently updating apps, lots of them. There's the first improvement. No need to supply password for updates. Also Safari seems faster.

At the current time, no, you are stuck on iOS 6 unless someone comes up with a means of downgrading your iOS.

:-( Thanks for the rapid response!

PS, Is there a reason I keep getting a message that "your message is too short. please lengthen your message to include more than three characters", or words to that effect?

That's a feature of the forum. As long as you don't try to post a message of less than 3 characters, you won't see it.

I haven't been an iPad owner or user of Apple products very long but I'm happy with the upgrade to the new IO6. I've owned my iPad2 for a few months now and it seems to operate smoother and quicker since the upgrade. Hands down I'm quite happy but I'm also very new to all of this Apple stuff so I might not realize what I was or am missing.

I have no idea what could have happened to Safari, but it is now amazingly fast. I downloaded the 13Mb PDF iOS6 manual for iPhone in a few seconds.

Yes. The link is in the bottom line of my signature. If you can't see my signature, it's http://support.apple.com/manuals

    Hey,

After upgrading to iOS 6 i've got a couple of issues. The main is the performance of the maps app. It's extremely laggy when viewing it in 3D. The cities that are fully rendered like New York and London, are choppy as hell. And it looks quite bad actually, the textures are extremely low quality and the polygon count is even worse. Does everyone experience this? Is this a limitation of the iPad 2? And generally everything seems slower and choppier. But then again, my ipad was quite choppy even before the upgrade, maybe i should take it to the store?
