Yesterday the settings icon on my I-Phone had a 1 in the little red box and I was then able to do the update via WIFI seemlessly...much better than connecting to a computer. This update available label is not appearing on my I-Pad2.....Is this because it is not connected to a network? It does have WIFI connection but no sim fitted. This is my first post from a newbie so be kind please!

If you go to Settings>General>Software Update while connected to WiFi on your iPad, you should be able to update. You don't need to see the red 1 tag.

Go to settings, general, software update and see what's there.

I don't get that notification on my iPad either but there is something in the software update section.

Tim.

I've got the Red 1 on the Settings icon also. When I go to Software Update, it displays "iOS 5.0.1" and "Your software is up to date". So what's the red 1 telling me, and how do I get rid of it? I've got the original iPad.
Thanks
